hey guys jus wondering, is the rear drive shaft suppose to have any play in the axel.
i can turn 1/8th of a turn before the axel engages. the driveline specialist put my locker in so i wouldnt have thought it would be that.

im asuming you mean diff rather than axle.

there should be a small amount on play. (the proper term is back lash)

an 8th of a turn sounds like a lot

I have about the same amount on both my diffs. I will be pulling them out to check the backlash as I too thing its too much.

Haha mine has close to a 1/4 of a turn before it engages

auto lockers can cause an increase in backlash,
enough to fail some rwc inspections.

would this cause the villant vibration at speed? and is it adjustable?

the driveline specialsist are the only ppl who touched it so shouldn't be that bad.

I only notice the back lash when first starting off,
that is a bit of slack and sometimes a small clunk before drive.
Not noticed any other issues.
Never assume an expert hasn't made a mistake.
Specialists are human, too {just }
Vibrations can have many causes, uni joints,
tailshaft dents,wheel bearings, diff bearings,
mud stuck to wheel rims, so can be hard to find.

Back lash of diff is adjustable, but slack in auto locker is in the design

ok was hoping that

at first the vibration came at high speed but when i took accelerater of it stoped completly and wheel and inner bearings are new, so cant be wheels as well.
i fixed the uni's and the vib is only at high speeds now but noe still there when accelerater is off.

try engine mounts, they can break and/or stretch without looking so.
vibrations change with engine movement

hmmm ok good idea. ill have a drive later see if anything's different
