| Post subject: | Another Spartan Locker Question |
Hey After an hour of searching and not being able to find anything which clearly states i decided to make a post.. I rang up Aussie Diffs on the gold coast and ask for 2 lockers for the front and rear for my sierra and i got 2 identical kits. they ended up selling me 2x Spartan lockers which uses existing side gears Problem being the front its a Single pin carrier (2 holes) 22 spline, to make this work would i have to get a rear carrier and use the front sidegears?? Is it even interchangeable?? More than likely i will just send 1 back and Buy one to suit.. I just want to make sure i am right and they are wrong before i do anything Thank you |

It's the same with arb air lockers, you need an RD88 for the rear and an RD75 for the front in a standard sierra. The info I'd read on the spartan's also mentioned you need a 4 pin carrier to fit them. EDIT: Found this though which might say otherwise (Joe's post about some sierras having 4pin front) Look for Joe's Post And this: Spartan Thread And this:Another Spartan Thread Good luck with it and let us know what happens please. |

Your car is a WT yeah? WT runs a 2 pinion front carrier and the Spartan Locker won't fit it. NT run a 4 pinion front carrier and the Spartan WILL fit them. I can sell you a 4 pinion front carrier for you to fit the locker and your existing side gears into. |

I'm using a sierra spartan locker in the front of my Vitara, it is also 2 pin. I believe 4 pin is better, but it will still fit, leaving out 1 pin (2 little half pins.) Not been in the car for very long, but no troubles so far There are some blokes on here running spartan lockers and lock rites in 2 pinion fronts. spline count don't matter as it uses original side gears, which are the same front and rear where they mesh with locker. Just axle hole is different. 2 pin side gears may not work, they have a lip/edge that may interfere with locker??? I used side gears from a 4 pin carrier just in case. christover |

Teracis - Thank you and i did check those link prior to posting. and those 2 RD numbers you gave me really mean nothing to me =). want33's - Yes the diffs they are going in are WT, and yes i am interested in buying a 4 pin Carrier, tried pm'ing but for some reason i am not confident it worked.... Blueberry - Kinda regret buying them after i saw what some places in the USA sell them for but they were $350 each inc. postage and they arrived the next day.. less than 24 hours later... I did ring up under a Mechanical Business name.. Price tags attached to the boxes say $440each. Christover1 - Thank you, but i am unsure of the similarties of the Vitara and Sierra Diffs and i was playing around with the Locker inside the 2pin Carrier and i lacked confidence in giving it a shot... Knowing my luck it will be wrong and blow up in time of need... Might just do it properly and get it right the first time. |
