hi, im a new sierra owner.... actually the new proud owner of 'blue suzy' and im looking to buy powertrax lockrite lockers for front and rear... however i've found that i can buy them for a suziki samuri in the usa at half the price.
my question is: is the sierra and samuri the same car with same specs ??? ie will a diff center for a samuri fit in a sierra without mods ???

Same car, different name, many people on here often buy from the states as its much cheaper then getting it here.

So to answer your question, yes, they will fit no problem, you will be fine. While you're at it, get some chromo axels, you'll need them with lockers.

You do need to change your driving style with the lockers in ... and the front locked in does make turning a real battle offroad ... but overall I'm pretty darn happy with mine. Yes I would have loved air-lockers ... but for the price I paid I am chuffed.

Welcome Andrew!

Suzy already has a rear locker, so the driving style won't be much different.

Your gears are from Lowrangeoffroad already, and 3/4 my new suzyII is from lowrange also.

Alot of reports from lockright style 'auto' lockers are banging and clanging and obscure behaviour on road. Thats why its welded. And i've always been scared of locking the front without chromo axles.

My new one will be arb air only.

Has anyone experienced an auto locker with an auto? Been thinking bout one for the rear of my vitara and thought with an auto trans it may be more predictable
Thoughts ?

Post subject:  Re: plz help i want cheap lockrite lockers !!

The locker will have load from the driveline all teh time, so it will be less likely to unlock. Auto lockers are really auto Unlockers, as they unlock then the torgue from the wheels is great enough to alow the clutch packs to slip over the teeth on the side gears, or the couplers, depending on what locker you have. The more torque transmitted to the diff from the drive shaft, the more torque required from the wheels to cause it to unlock. With an auto there will be more constant load on the drive shaft, which will cause the locker to stay locked longer. How much this effect will change the behavious i cant answer, as i have never had an auto locker in a zook auto vehicle.

Layto....

Mines an Auto. Powertrax Lock right rear, spartan (from sierra) front.
My only issue is drive line slack makes a clunk as slack takes up,
but on road I have no probs, now I am used to it, I forget its there..

PS, Mine is LWB hard top, and thus heavier than a SWB softy.
So locker unlocks very easily.
U turns are much better than my welded Sierra rear :))
If I boot it hard, it stays locked and will squeal tyres.

So you are happy with it then? I had a Sierra with a rear lock right and it was horrible bunny hopping through car parks and lane changes when changing gears and the occasional bang.

I am very happy with it.
If I could afford ARB air, great, but I can't ever.
It was fitted by an expert with original owner. But I had to tighten up diff for rwc, I just threw it back together, still ok.
