Change the timing belt & seals on the Vit the other day and had all sorts of problems cracking the crank bolt to change the seal. After the 12" bar + extention tube and the rattle gun failed it was a Ph call to my mate Dave, X Toyota Tech Man .......Oh simple, Westie get a socket and bar on it and anchor it to something soild, Disable motor ( remove HT lead or similar)and HIT THE STARTER. YEP the power of the starter had that sucker loose in the blink of an eye. Hope this helps next time you have tight NUTS |

and if that fails let the bar get a run up everyone with vitaras, make sure you get that bolt done up real tight, lots of problems if its a bit loose |

Little tricks of the trade that you pick up all the time, I use that one on every timing belt that requires the crank pulley to come off. Doesn't work so well on Honda's though. |

cant hurt, what happens is the crank pulley moves around and slowly flogs the key in the crank and then the crank, retards tha cam timng which makes it a slug shaft fit would probably be good too but would be very hard to get apart again |
