Just can't figure this out, When key is on the on position the light for battery doesn't show, which ever way that I put the two wires, I know the globe works. Testing the two wires they are both 12v ? Anyone be able explain how the sence wire works? Can I run a new one ? Cheers |

does the globe light up in the dash when either of the 2 wires are probed with a test light (must be a globe test light not a LED one) |

you need to use a test light to check it.. it wont work with a multi metre. there is a good chance that the alternator is stuffed .. was it new? or 2nd hand?? the sense wire is just a referance for the alternator as to what the battery voltage is. |

Just bought a test light, conected aligator clip to earth and probed the two wires, the batt light one is not as bright but doesn't light the dash light. |

it will light the dash but very dim... has to be night time to really see it or cover the dash with a towel.. will light the test light dull as well. if it doesnt light the light in the dash then there is a problem if all is good then put that wire it the right pin (when looking at the alternator with the pulley facing the ground) and the other wire into the left connect main battery wire to alt start and see if it charges. if light does not come on and go out once running then there is an alternator problem. |
