I am building a new Sierra LWB and 4 linking the rear. My question is in regards to pumpkin offset.. I want to run a Vitara rear diff for the larger CW&P so it is stronger to hopefully handle the 35's it'll be getting. Sierra rear pumpkin is offset to drivers side about 150mm, Vitara is centred. How much of a problem will it be running the rear shaft at an angle between the diff and transfer? (My car is more rockcrawler than anything and doesn't see any {bitumen}road use, fastest it's likely to go is 70-80km/h on dirt.... Don't even mention Bundera diffs as I've spent too much money on Sierra cromo's and locker/spool etc) |

What motor? Vit motor, g.box, dual vit transfer. Makes it a centre rear output. Almost a vit then... |

I already run a G16B so twin Vit transfers may be an option later...Can't afford to do it now... Already spent too much on Vit diff, Johnny joints, Air shocks etc... |

Being a LWB and possibly going longer I recon you should be right with centered rear |

not sure If everyone will agree here but I feel If both uni joints are on the same angle and the angles arn't to radical it shouldn't be a problem. I had a hilux axle (cut down) under the rear of the jimny and it wasn't a problem If anything it was smoother the tail shaft dropped about 10degrees from the transfer and when towards the drivers about 5 degrees. maybe a bit more. I would just be keeping the grease up to the uni's |

as NIK is never on here ill let you know how his works, it's spoa on lux rear centered center, as it's a lwb it gets no vibration through the car. He is running a stock sierra tail shaft (also stock uni's) and the tcase in the stock position... it also runs 35s and 33s... i think you won't have a drama

I cant see a problem, people have been doing the same with hilux diffs for ages It's said the stock sierra unis handle 5" of lift before they vibrate, I guess if you figure what that angle is and dont exceed it in the strange semi sideways plane youll have it would be fine |

From my understanding, i know you have to match the pinion angles to make sure you don't get vibrations, technically it shouldn't matter what way the shaft is angled to as long as you match the pinion angles. |
