Just about to order some longer rear shocks for my vitara but have a quick questions about the lower bushing in the shock. I going to get commodore shocks that are about 50mm longer than stock as i have read the the OME rear shocks are a bit short (only about 35mm longer). Would a 50mm Longer shock be ok for the stock rear upper ball joint that locates the diff?
The VC-VN commodore shocks i have my eyes on have a 16mm ID bush (no crush sleeve) and are 36mm wide.
From what i have found the vitara has a 12mm ID crush tube that is 38mm long inside the bush.
Obviously the bush needs to be changed but i dont want to destroy the bushes in my standard shocks getting the crush sleeve out so i am looking for a bush that i can just swap into the commodore ones that fits.
I have attached the superpro bushing datasheet. The commodore shocks are compatible with part no SPF2178-16K would i just be able to swap this for SPF2178-12K and then run a washer either side to space it out to 38mm? Is it ok to use a bush that has no crush sleeve?
Otherwise will the OEM suzuki bush, if i can get new bushes, fit straight into the commodore shock?

fair enough. wasnt sure if it was needed as the commodore one doesnt have a sleeve in it its just a rubber bush.
Does anyone know the OD of the vitara crush sleeve. then maybe i can find the right size tube and knock one up. if i can only get a bush 36mm wide is a washer either side acceptable?
If i cant work out a cheap fix myself i might take it to a suspension place and see what i can work out but id rather do it myself than pay someone.
