Hey Ive got a 1990 Sierra it's pritty much stock Iv had it for about a month and it's just started to cut out and stall at lights and when I'm even going around rounderbout and corners any ideas what it might be?

it will be your carb mine was the same put a kit through it and it ran perfect

theres another way to do it, although some say its harsh.
Swapping spark leads 2 & 3, firing it up and letting it backfire a bit then putting the leads back to normal and seeing if that fixes it.

it solved my issues

that's the mexican tune, try the french tune it's pretty much the same but not as harsh.

pull the carby hat off so you can see the top of the carby & get a rag.... rev the engine up & while holding a revs, smother the carby with the rag trying to get it to suck the crap thru the carby.

usually its the auto-choke on the carby... theyre a wax thingo, and eventually (used to be yearly in mine) they die. Genuine replacements are very expensive, and the aftermarket ones are shite... lol

mine used to backfire a little on downchanges and idle all over the show. eventually i blew up that engine and put a 1.6 in, carby was fine for a year again then the choke died AGAIN so i threw a weber on.

About 2 years later i saw the light and went EFI and have not looked back.

if its within your budget, think about doing the swap, even if to a g13bb. (efi 1.3L from a 99 jimny).

stuff that - italian tune up is the most fun way! (rev the shit out of it for a minute or so). I tried the carby suck with mine (hand over the intake) - it does smooth it out if the jets are clogged, but they soon clog up again - usually means your air filter needs replacing =)

My bro-in-law was a qualified mechanic - owned his own workshop for a number of years - and I flabbergasted him when I used the mexican tune while out 4'bying one day. Started idling rough so pulled over, swapped leads, bang cough splutter, swapped back, idled perfectly

Much easier than trying to suck stuff through by blocking off the air intake. Harsh? Maybe. Hasn't done any noticeable damage to mine and I've probably done it 50 times over its life with me.

I had this/still have, it was water in my fuel. I tried metho in the tank but it wasn't working fast enough so I dropped the tank and dumped the fuel, I need to do the rag trick again and if it's not better after one more go with the rag then I'm getting a new fuel cap.
