After having my carb rebuilt I am still having trouble with power. My poor Vitara won't even get past 90kmh and that's flat on the floor!!! I have noticed a monster flat spot at 3-4000 rpm and the engine just won't rev past 4000rpm. It feels as though the secondary is opening but the fuel jet is not operating in it and creating a huge lean condition. So I disconnected the vacuum line for the secondary so it does not operate and now just using the primary it will rev right out in 1-3 gear but still won't get past 90kmh. So I think it may be a blocked secondary jet. Does this sounds right to you guys? If so how to I fix this? Any help is much appreciated. |

Rebuild the carby? I'm no expert but if it's giving you that much trouble it might be worth doing. |

Read the first paragraph of my post... It has just been rebuilt but obviously not so well. Please anyone out there when specific knowledge on these Carbs. |

Check the connections to the solinoids on the carb. One of the is a fuel bowl vent solinoid. If this aint connected the engine really drops dead Dan |

JusT looses power. Wouldn't say drops dead. All vacuum hoses and solinoids are working as intended. I can't beleive that the car runs better with the secondary disconnected! I have been driving around without secondaries for I don't know how long! Any other ideas? |

Have you checked the secondary actuation vacuum pot with a mityvac or something to confirm its operating at the correct vacuum level? Layto.... |

It runs fine with the secondary disabled via unplugging the vacuum pot. This rules out airleaks. I may just take the carb apart and learn how the insides work and what's stopping the fuel from passing through tHe secondary jet. Best way to learn is to do I suppose. I'll keep has updated. |

Will do jrzook. Yes it is a Mikuni. You don't happen to have a pic laying by any chance of the solenoid? What is the purpose of this valve? Opens to let air bleed into the bowl for faster fuel delivery? Thanks for your help so far. I will check it out this arvo. |
