your carbon canister is supposed to be connected, fix the underlying issue.

Carbon canister is soposed to purget the fuel tank, Removing it is silly and Illegal. You do have it connected to the correct port on the carb?

replace canister or blow out all lines to the tank with high pressure air mine filled up with mud and after a blow out was fine. could be blocked idle jet, stuffed fuel pump, rooted carb ect...

Have you checked the basics?
Fuel pump pressure?
Idle mixture Adjustment?
Anti Dieseling solenoid connected correctly and functioning?
Wax pellet on the carb opens the choke and closes the choke completely?
Base ignition timming?

After 3 failed cannisters I threw it away,
but you must still have a clear vent line connected,
Or you can get vapour lock issues, and collapsed tank.
I ran a line up the back of ute cab, with a fuel filter on it.
This is not legal, and fuel loss i9s possible in rollovers.
But car ran better ever after.

Check for blockages, cannisters do need replacing frequently.

Mine wasn't venting, and parking in sun caused fuel to leak out thru carby..took some trouble shooting to figure it out
