A dampner is just a horizontal shock. What kind is it?

if it isnt an rtc dampner just pull it off however :) . if it was a rtc dampner i think you would have to have the wheels pointing straight :?

The only thing i can think of, if its an ReturnToCentre one, the wheels have to be straight so you can remove it and install it back on easy, Otherwise the spring action will make it a pita to pull off, The spring/possible pinch hands because it will compress/expand as its under load if not straight. Good luck getting it back on too.

RTC is bling. If you car doesnt track straight by itself on road. I think you have other problems.

If it is RTC like everyone else said your wheels must be straight.
