So my car came with a 1lt transfer which exploded I have since fitted a new 1lt transfer which is sweet as. Now my tailshaft unis have decided to die I need to know which end on the 1lt transfer is different and which tailshaft I can use in it.

Can anyone shed some light?

I know mine doesnt have the 4wd light switch...is that an early one?

is it going to be easier to just get the uni's rebuilt?

which flange is different on the Tcase?

is it the one that attaches to the main driveshaft from the gearbox or the one going to the rear diff?

i have a late model 1.0 box here and the jack shaft and front tailshaft flanges are the same
and the rear flange is the handbrake drum.

no 4wd light is the early jobbie.

i am sure that there are only 2 types of sierra uni's. early is internal circlip
and late is external circlip, so just have a look at where the circlip is.

well ive just realised ive got a spare rear tailshaft sitting in my shed...im going to do some custom drilling and make that fit on the weekend...if its the main shaft from the gearbox ill just get a new uni fitted next week

you should be able to get a new uni joint for about $35. dont stuff around dodgying up a shaft to fit, just go buy and fit a new uni joint.

the slip yoke on my rear tailshaft is jammed so I need to replace it anyway
i might get some new unis and do that yoke swap or something
