Hey zookers, As the subject states I'm looking at purchasing transfer gears from low range off road and deciding between the 4.9 or 5.14 (calmini). I was wondering about experiences people have had with this gears and whether is is worth spending the $100 more for the Calmini gears. I am currently running 30inch wheels and will be upgrading to 32's in the near future so i believe 6.4 are to low for me. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks Tom |

I have had the 5.14's now for 5 years or so, they have been given hell using the stock mounts and no TC ring and they have been bulletproof, personally they are good for up to 31's but 32's will be pushing it and you may end up wishing you went for 6.5's. What sort of wheeling do you mainly do ? |

If you went for the 5.14's now, you could always change your diff ratios later to help with the 32's. |

I am ordering 6.5's and I am running 29's, I'm planning to go to 31's and I'll get a spare stock tcase in future (for if I decide to go on a looong trip) but I can get away with it because I do basically zero highway driving. I worked out all the ratios and speeds with this site Gear Ratio Calculator and I came up with about 3800-4000 rpm with 6.5's and 31's in 5th high at 110km/h Which isn't too bad because at the moment to go that quick and maintain it I have to use 4th gear anyway which sits in exactly that rev range. Also, I'm pretty sure the trail creeper gears have better warranty than the calmini's. |

Transfer case gears, dont they only effect the high and low range whilst in 4WD ? So why would it effect 'highway' driving? You wouldnt have it in 4wd. These transfer gears f#@king confuse me, I havent been given a straigh answer if they effect 2wd |

i have 32s and 6.5.1 and use from third gear up there a little to low for stuff we have here |

I mainly drive my zuks on the weekend and in steep muddy/clay areas so i think the 5.14 and then diff gears sounds the better option. Thanks a lot guys |

what do you guys recomend for 30s but future 32s but daily 50-80ks at 110 k/ph driving? |
