So i changed gear box today as the (throw-out?) bearing had sh#t itself in my old one. didnt change clutch plate or flywheel. hooked up the clutch as the old one was, but now the clutch isnt even doing anything :( pedal just goes to the floor without engaging. any ideas? Really hope I dont have change gear boxes back and put the good bearing in my old gear box.
Any ideas?

Keep winding the adjuster nut in till you have a clutch..

I've wound the one at the lever right up, will the one towards the front of the car tighten it>?

how far forward can you move the clutch arm on the box with the cable connected?

ok lets get the basics out of the way

is the cable connected at both ends?

have you adjusted it?

did you put the throw out bearing back in?

did the release fork become distached?

if all of these are right i dont know what else could cause it

ok cables connected both ends and adjusted
throw out bearing went back in.
i'm pretty sure the fork didnt come off.

Would it matter if the gear box was newer then the engine?

old gear box had the standard nut head for the filler plugs
new gear box has the square allen key bolt filler plugs?

when you press the pedal is is light like nothing is there or heavy like normal?

can you wobble the lever on the box at all, is there any play?

pedal has nothing until the last inch, then the firewall stops it.
there is an inch or so play on the box?

inch is way too much, 2-3mm tops

you either need to remove more slack from the cable at the mount on the engine or you have the lever on teh wrong spot, is is vertical when you push the lever forward to take up the slack?

First check the clutch is still hooked on inside the cab, it could have come off the hook at the top of the pedal while you were working on it.

If that isnt it get someone to push on the clutch while you look underneath to make sure it is all moving, check cable shround isnt kinking when pressure is put on.

I once pulled the whole box out just to find out that even though the cable wasnt broken the whole shroud would kink when the clutch was pressed and not allow the clutch to work.

On the clutch arm on the gearbox (the bit the cable attaches to) there is a centre punched dot on the arm as well as the splined shaft it goes on.... Be sure to check they are aligned.

think the lever might need to be taken off and given more angle away from the front of the vehicle. Cable looks like its got to much slack in it
