Hey guys,

I'm new to this forum and I actually don't have a sierra yet but am looking. I was hoping when I get one to drop a swift GTi motor in it with a 1.6 vitara block and a SC14 supercharger. Does Anyone know somewhere that I can read about this and how difficult it would be for me to do this. Also if you have any other suggestions would b awesome

Honestly. I jst want a torqy/powerful lil 4x4 that will get me anywhere. lol

The 16 valve 1.6 MPFI is a snappy little bastard for a light Sierra. My boy has one in his sidekick, and it flat moves for a Vitara, especially when you get into the 300Rp and up range,

I run the 8 valve 1.6, and three of my buddies have the 16 valve version. Their 16v's really smokes the 8 valve. Considering I am happy with the power of the 8 valve 1.6, that says a lot about the MPFI 16 valve version.

With a good set of extractors, and a decent exhaust I figure a 16v 1.6 is all a guy would need..at least up to a 33 inch tire. I can;t imagine 31's lol.. it would be a screamer.

Some guys turbo them here in the states and get a little more out of them. Stock ECM, and 6-7Lbs of boost, is a good reliable setup. More boost needs a lot more work.

Here's the turbo build up. Did you guys get the j20 2 liter that is an option too.

I was told that a 1.6 block on a gti motor was a good choice. But you guys seem to know more than what I was told lol.

Because I actually havent got a Sierra yet. what year will be easiest to drop a G16B in? And will I need to get an engineers coz I was thinking about doing it myself with a few mates.

I've heard that it doesn't work as well as people think, but not having done it myself or seen the results first hand I wouldn't like to comment. I think losfer might have some experience with it.

A couple of Improved production guys are running GTIs with 1.6 blocks... They work fairly well on a track but I think the power delivery would be totally inappropriate in a Sierra, unless it was to be used for rallying or similar...

Bog stock g16b / mk1 gti head netted me 48kw on the dyno first time round. Hardly what I'd call a powerhouse... The low compression ratio (7.8:1) is rediculously low for a N/A car, so forced induction is a valid idea for this engine. However the weak points in the G16, like con rods/bolts should be addressed first. If you want a little 4x4 that will get you anywhere, stick with a stock engine or g16b, properly geared, locked front and rear. Horsepower does not equal offroad capability.

Anything with a 1.3 will be relatively straight forward. 1.0 requires more fab.
