has anyone bought a rebuild kit for their sierra tcase lately? took mine for a spin tonight, and its noisey as crap (ask mandy )......so will have to pull it out to rebuild it ( only new part i didnt rebuild before installation).

my vit rebuild kit was $300 or something like that, so hopin not that much

or does anyone have a 1l tcase that's in good, useable nick??

i e-mailed cbc rocklea and was told 420ish for a full bearing kit.. then add gaskets, seals etc

Yep I have one for sale antt, but its off an 82 model = no 4WD switch. Its in good nick. Was asking $150, i had a couple ppl interested in it .. but i still got the thing!

u sure thats the right price? how many bearings are there in the case? 10 max?

try some good old lucas, mine wines its head off so i put lucas oil in it and its heeps better, the bearings in mine were ok,its from the slop in the gears apparently

did yours whine only under power? mine is fine when not accelerating, quiet as

up to 60km it was ok then on the highway it was cron. if its there when u rev it it could be a clutch bearing

mine starts about 30ish (no speedo). quiet up till then, so dont think its the clutch (it was fine before the rebuild too)

i dont get what you're asking? if you mean, is it the case that the front tailshaft comes out of, then yeah, it is

will get some lucas tomorrow and give it a try (easier an cheaper than pullin the thing out if it quietens it down)

yeah, the standard vit one, with the front output cut off, and the sierra one behind that

1 litre cases do whine a bit, maybe yours is transmitting the noise through that monster mount youve made?

but yeah only under power sounds like there too much endplay in it

i used lucas. think i used practicly the whole bottle. read the bottle i think it says use 50% of oil of something huge, repco sell it

could only get morleys, no lucas in stock (well, a 5 litre bottle was it). just wondering how much a stock sierra case holds (oil) before i mix this in tonight

Yes 5lts may be a big bollte but the Lucus is great stuff and can be used in anything. Money well spent. I have used it in Engines, diffs etc and still use it from time to time. Morey's is just as good.

i didnt buy the 5 litre bottle of lucas, got the 1l of morleys

its seems to have worked. only drove it a few hundred metres (road was still too busy to be driving round with no plates, rego sticker, or mudflaps ), but was certainly quieter, and will probably get a bit quieter once it spreads around. i can see why it shuts it up, the stuff is like honey

yar, lucky i had a bigass syringe (75ml) sittin around from when i did the airshocks, which made it pretty simple
