Am I chewing the same amount of juice in low range up a few gears if I keep the revs the same as they would be in say 2nd high

Anytime you are in low range I would assume you would actually be wheeling. That said I would also assume that when you wheel you would use slightly more fuel than 'normal' driving.

What gear you are in doesn't really have anything to do with fuel consumption.
What matters is throttle position and engine revs.

its ok i know how u feel man haha i think i now only do 250 to a tank but in saying that i do have massive dents in my tank
