have a cutting out problem with my blue zook that has plagued it for its whole life just about so i'am making it my mission to rectify the problem.
have tried numerous carb swaps and am currently running a fully rebuilt webber (1 week old) throughout all the carb swaps the problem has remained the same. Thought maybe the fuel tank pressurizing but it still does it with petrol cap on and off. Now i'm thinking maybe the fuel pump or possibly a spark related issue??? I have checked all the earths and the dizzy out, all seem in good nick as does everything going to the coil.
some days are better than others but as soon as i pull up thinking the probs gone away it starts again. The car uses a bit of oil but the plugs arn't too bad considering.
now, ideas anyone ?

what do you have to do to make it cut out??? is it after gearing down to a stop? is it happening while driving?

Mate we need abit more info, does it do it under load? Why have you been swapping carbs? When you say cutting out does it actually die and you have to restart it or does it have a flat spot if so how much (big little etc) could be something as simple as a fuel supply as in filter or maybe even plugs and leads?

ok, these occurrences can be completely random, such as it being fine on the way to work crap on the way home, or fine for the first 20 mins of driving then crap. you get the idea, there is nothing i can do to induce the problem whilst the car is running fine and no one thing that sets it of.
* driving along foot on the clutch = dead
* stop at lights = dead
* at lights for an extended period idling fine then = dead
the reason for the carby swaps is to eliminate that from the equation, all the carbys have come of cars running fine and the webber is new.

How does it start back up? easily. . Foot flat to the floor... Coughing an sputtering..
Is it a sudden cut out.. Or does it die down in revs

a half pump on the gas and she fires up but sometimes it still wants to die, there is no spluttering from over fueling.

Disable the immobiliser first, they can stuff up and then you'd get what is happening here. Provided you've hooked up the immobiliser to stop the thing from running, if it's only in the start circuit then it won't be the problem.

immobiliser removed - problem is still present, iam deciding if its worth pulling out the tank and givng it a good clean. I cant really see it being the fuel pump as you would think it would be a repeatable issue not completely random. maybe something is just floating around in the tank and blocking it up occasionally. After some tests it seems to happen more on a low tank and while braking

fuel tank seemed pretty clean and fuel filter wasnt too hard to blow thru. letting tank dry in the sun at the moment, snapped one of those little brazed vent outlet pipes so i had to fill tank with water and weld it back on. rinsed tank with fuel a few times will re-install when dry.

hey mick - can you take the leads off your LWB and try them on the other one? i remember years ago i had faulty leads which caused all sorts of weirdness - only cut out now and then, but also idled all over the place.

do you still have the earth off the back of the dizzy connected to the firewall? is the motor earthed? Check the connection of the fuel cutout on the carby.
To me it sounds like you have a faulty earth somewhere or a busted wire in the loom. ......hmmm check your fuses are not coroded.

ok new plugs - no deal
new fuel pump - no deal
will check fuses and earths again
i wonder could the cutting out be caused by my smokey motor.
If i slow down gradually around a corner in neutral it doesnt cut out but if i brake or gear down and brake to a stop then it cuts out. Its almost like using the brake pedal causes it. I have checked the booster and connections they seem ok ?

replaced fuses, battery connections, tightened engine earth, replaced coil and checked connections still cuts out when brake is applied to stop rolling to a stop is no problem ???
I'm thinking motor is rooted, blows lots of smoke but has heaps of power gets to 110 in 3rd no probs now with the webber, i dont know maybe she's just a bit sic.

where is that on the booster side or the manifold side, the car has done a fair bit of mud work in its day so theres always the possibility of it being stuffed.
