Why not get (wat is essitially brand new) engine for a few hundred more?

No matter what you do you will need a rebuildable engine to begin with, nobody will sell you a rebuilt engine straight off the shelf, it will either be do yours or exchange.

My farther is managing a Mechanics atm, i'm getting an engine through then complete ready to bolt in.

Oh true ouch so it wasnt as good of a build as many raved on about. Man what a bummer. Well hopefully you get it sorted and wheeling again soon. Not tempted to rip the sump off and have a look see to figure out how bad the damage really is before buying another complete engine? Or is the whole thing poop?

if you bolted on your head to the balleno block and used your pipes from the vit there would be very little work in it. your call though. You wont get a vit one from anywhere retail for under 2K

I've gotten a quote for a full reco'd g16b for $2250 with 12 month 50000Km warrenty. OR a Jap import Low Km front cut for $1450 (but no warrenty) If i rebuilt it i'd probably be looking around the $1000-$1500 mark anyway and thats just replacing whats broken. my g16a cost close to the $1500 mark to rubuild i imagine g16b will me a bit more depends what you actually get done to the engine

Royce, i've re read the last part a few time and i dont understand sorry. Do you mean the large demand and little availability has made them more expensive or the fact that its just a 14 year old engine? lol.

Pretty sure its done a piston skirt. But not 100%. Its had a bottom end knock for a few months now and in the last couple its started rattle/vibrate at 22-2400 revs. Bottom line it needs a fair amount of TLC regardless. yep, i believe it was, but then the diffs were supposed to be welded properly too and they had fallen off. alot of things were half done on it from what i can see. pity cos its a nice rig

I'm getting it for cost so he isn't making any money off of it, so it would be the smart thing to look around to make sure i cant get it cheaper anywhere else...

I will be doing that before hand, but i need to know what i'm going to be up for because its probably going to be a "talk to the bank man" matter.
