Post subject:  Marking winch rope
I'm replacing the steel winch cable with plasma. The steel cable has red paint in a couple of places as its getting a few metres out from the end.
I didn't think painting rope would be a good idea? I have thought maybe some red heat shrink to mark it or just buying a rope protector to go in that area. Anyone done anything similar or got any ideas?

I just ran the black heat cover on mine. It ran around the drum 10 times or so.

how about a strip of electrical tape.

Green = 15mts left

Yellow = 10mts left

Red - 5mts left

Ive got a plasma rope if you want to buy it. Also alloy fairlead. both brand new, never been fitted. Off a tigerz11 winch

I think the rope retails for $275.00 and fairlead $70.00
call it $200.00 for the lot plus $ 12.00 postage anywhere in oz.
