Hi all,
just purchased a 2006 GV, went to Bremer Bay and did quite a bit of beach driving, and towing a trailer.
Need more clearance for beach work. I don't do a lot of off road stuff.
Can someone please advise on what the pros and cons of new springs over spacers are? I notice a lot of guys use lift kits.
I have been quoted $630 from wilikinsons for new springs all round, drive in drive out. Which is what I want, I dont want to have to stuff around with it myself.
Also if anyone is in Perth, and has suggestions for places to go to for fitting, that would be helpful too.

I had fitted King springs to my 1994 Vitara, and they were great, but with the newer car, I imagine I may need to change shocks as you have said.
That ebay kit is only for 2005 I think, and I am not confident to do it myself.

If anyone is interested, this is what Ironman quoted, $900, no mention of camber bolts.
But I am thinking of going with King Springs from wilkinsons, $700 with camber bolts, but not new shocks, Wilkinsons assures me, and others have said also, no need to change shocks.
But first I need to get it past the wife....sheesh.

its only a modest lift, 40mm, and even the bloke, Tim, from Outdoors said I could just change springs.
But I will change springs, see how it rides and if need be, get some shocks at a later date, so the wife does not notice as much...

new springs will lift the rear but you will also need longer front struts. If you dont you run the risc of topping out the stock ones and they will fail when you least expect them to.

Springs spacers are a cheap poor way to do it, you still have stock springs which dont extend/travel, as far as lifted springs do... Buying lifted springs only, is half the job, you really need to get extended travel shocks, or you will limit the amount of travel of the new springs, and wear out the shocks quicker... Much better to get a complete suspension kit ! I have the Ironman lift Kit in my 01 GV, cost me $840, which fit well into my budget, and i am very happy with it ! They have a just opened a store here in WA, if your interested... Dobinson do a lift Kit for the 06 GV, Dobinson are moderately priced at close to $1100, and possibly Tough Dog, but they are expensive, well over $1500, not sure if Old Man Emu do, but they will be expensive as well... there may be a few other brands that make them for the 06 GV... it depends on how much you want to spend... any good 4WD shop will be able to help you out more, some are Zook friendly, and some are not i found Opposite Lock to be good... Just did a quick search on ebay, for suspension kits for the 06 GV, and found this - Its a 40mm Kit for $880 http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Suzuki-Grand-Vit ... 3364834530

Pretty sure i saw an Ironman Kit for the 06+ GV, its pretty new, they only had a 35mm lift for mine last year, but they now have a 50mm lift... I wasnt confident to do it either, thats why i got my local Opposite Lock store to fit them, it was only $400 to fit... its extra insurance/comeback should anything happen to go wrong, lol... Those coil spring part numbers are the same as Ironman. check their website.

But first I need to get it past the wife....sheesh. Some kits come with camber bolts, some dont... they are pretty cheap... What amount of lift are the King Springs ? Hmmm... i have my doubts about them saying you dont need longer shocks... it would be fine onroad, but for offroad which is why you are getting the lifted springs, you will limit axle/spring travel with a standard shock...

Ohhh i see... yeah good idea, gotta keep the Mrs Happy... to a degree... lol
