Does any of the cases have a handbrake drum on the transfer case if so that's a early model 1l case. I'm not sure if the later 1l case has the drum |

I'm not sure if the later 1l case has the drum all narrow track sierras have a transcase handbrake. 1.0 and 1.3. they look the same on the outside. if you turn the input flange 10 times with a bit of string on the output you should be able to se the difference between a 1.0 and a 1.3 case. early 1.0 looks completely different. |

narh you count how many times it goes around and then you can work out the ratio. well you could pretend it is a winch as well. |

The string is there to remind you of something or other you should have remembered after you've counted 10 turns. Just put the case in to Low, fit a bolt (or piece of string!) to one of the INPUT flange holes, and turn the OUTPUT flange ONCE. If the Input turns 2 1/2 times (2.511), it's a 1.0lt. If it turns 2 1/4 times (2.268), it's a 1.3lt. If you start with the fitted bolt at the 12 o'clock position, you don't need to count the number of turns of the input, just turn the OUTPUT one complete turn. The bolt on the INPUT flange will end up at either the 3 o'clock/9 o'clock position(1.3lt), (depending on which way you rotate the flange) or 6 o'clock(1.0lt) position. |

Your not, early 1lt case, you will need to hybrid the shaft's to make it fit.. |
