hey guys soo i have purchased the O.R.A 4.5" kit. now im thinking possibly looking at different diffs? maybe hilux? only concern is the little jimny diffs are off center? and/or not to sure wether the hilux ever came out with the off centered diff? if so is it a cut n weld sort of job ? or quite difficult? thanks |

Pretty sure every one goes hilux front and bundera rear as the bundera diff is offset |

It will be a BIG job to fit to a jimny. It has been done, though I am unsure if it is engineerable in QLD. |

I know this is all a bit Grumpo, but if you need to ask these sort of questions it might not be the job for you. It's definitely not straightforward, regardless of its legality. The bigger question is if you're very sure where your heading with this build. The jimny's we've had down here in the club have all reduced their lift height down to the bare minimum and used trimming and bumpstop spacing to run the tyres they want rather than lift. From what I've seen they're pretty spooky with lift in them. The weight of the hilux diffs will help this, but what you gain in stability you loose in ground clearance and increased unsprung weight.... and how much tyre do you want to run to justify those diffs? Jimny's have tiny guards and their hard to cut far enough to run a big tyre at a sensible overall height that allows you to make the most of the traction the big tyres have. Just some thoughts. Steve. How much experience do you have with suzuki's off road? Just because you can buy a part doesn't mean it's a good idea. |

iv herd its pointless running hiluxs diffs on a zook unless ur going 35s + if u run 33s or lower u lose dif clearance because of the size of the difs ?? |

I'd agree with that Tryhard. The problem with Jimny's is that axle strength upgrades are much more expensive than for sierras. They never break anything on a 30" tyre, but at 32" (and not even a wide 32 - 235/85/16) they might as well be made of glass - even driven gently it was taking out multiple driveline components on medium/hard trips We have a Jimny in the club here in Vic with 34 9.5 15 swampers on it and it hasn't been very reliable, driveline wise. Hilux diffs look like the answer (or hilux/bundera) but what's the point if you're getting outdriven by a much more standard car on 31's? Steve. |

if u run 33s or lower u lose dif clearance because of the size of the difs ?? sorry mate but that is garbage. my sierra on 31s has the same(to the mm) diff clearance as my hj75 that is on 33s also my hj is the model with the big diffs both front and rear. i would be prepared to bet money that a hilux on 32s would have more diff clearance then a sierra on 31s. i have actually climbed under cars with a tape measure so this is first hand info not another internet folly |

Hilux housing, centre line to bottom of plug ring, 128-130mm Theory: 314.5mm from ground to plug ring clearance on an exact 35" tyre with Hilux diffs 289.1mm from ground to plug ring clearance on an exact 33" tyre with Hilux diffs 263.7mm from ground to plug ring clearance on an exact 31" tyre with Hilux diffs Practical: This will change depending on pinion angle, the housing is rotated so the angle may reduce clearance because squarish of the corners of the housing, Clearance will also change with weights, tyre pressures, tyre size, and conditions. Anyone got a sierra/ rear Jimny housing to measure for theory? (jimny fronts are smaller than sierra's) |

The extra width isnt necessarily needed if the car is setup with a reasonable hieght suspension. |

width, gearing options, housing strength, ability to legally fit larger tyres and availability of parts. want me to keep going

gearing options, Not sure but there is about the same number of zook gearing options too housing strength, The only way I have seen a housing bend is if you are stupid enough to jump your car ability to legally fit larger tyres Maybe, I never had to worry about legalities and availability of parts. Fuck me if you cant find zook parts anywhere in aus or OS then you are doing something wrong. want me to keep going ![]()

We arnt talking sierra here, we are talking Jimnywith the weak as piss fronts. There is a reason why comp suzuki's run lux diffs. Running twin locked 35's+ Strong and lighter then pootrols centres/housings! And easily upgradable further. If your anywhere, You have more hope in finding a lux centre in the wreckers than a suzuki one to get you out of the shit asap if stuck somewhere. |
