Hey guys

Doing the G16b conversion at the moment and need some help with the wiring

Anyone got a diagram for a 97 Vit with the 3 wire air flow and mitsu computer.

Computer has 2 blue plugs on it

Better still anyone know how to do it that lives close to penrith that could come give me a hand for a few hours one night or on the weekend would be great.

If i can get the right diagram for it then i will have a go but i dont want to stuff anything up

Cheers

i was in this boat a little while ago, i just looked at the wiring and HOLY F%$. i ended up draping the wiring loom on top of the sierra, getting it to start, then slowly picking apart the loom, once i was happy with the amount i had removed, i spliced it into the sierra loom, 1 step at a time and make sure it still starts!!! have you made your vss yet?

is htere any way of ditching most of the loom and just running the main engine harness? just powering the ecu and getting the tacho signal?
i dont want to mess around with cluster or body loom swaps, and on closer inspection my vitara loom isnt complete.

Post subject:  Re: G16b wiring help

only problem with zookinators write up is that he doesn't really explane the wiring, its just, 'started with this, ended with this'

the pdf's you put up are good! thanks for that. now to try to decifer it all...

can anyone explane the go with the distributers on this model? (with the two blue plugs on the ecu)
it seems like the coil is built into the dizzy, as it only has 4 leads coming off the cap.

youll need a lot of room and some patience, pull the sierra loom out and lay it out on a flat surface in the same fashion as it sits in teh car so its easier to picture where it all is

Get the vit loom and cut all the tape off and combined with a wiring diagram for the vit find all the wires that go from the ecu to teh engine, then figure out what all the wires that go from the ecu to somewhere else go and either splice them into the sierra loom or not use them (stuff like AC signals)

then there will be some of the original sierra engine wires youll need to sort out, alternator wires, starter wires, oil pressure and temp etc

Its piss easy to do if you take your time and work logically, if wiring isnt your strong point you are probably better of finding somebody on here that can take your looms and splice them and send it back

yea this dizzy has the coil and crank angle sensor built in, it should have 7 pins on the plug to the distributor? mine was a 96 model, mitsu comp as well but mine had yellow plugs

thats what im doing atm, its all laying out on the floor, or what i have anyway.

will see how i go. any clues to where to patch into for power feed, or any tips?

thanks

Post subject:  Re: G16b wiring help

just checking back here. wiried my loom up to test the motor before final fitment, and nothing is happening. no spark or fuel from what i can see.

my set up is as above in my previous posts. the distributor is all in one, coil etc. the ecu has two blue plugs.

i have had no luck in finding a wiring diagram for this set up! :(

can anybody help me out here? i cannot afford to pay someone to do a loom for me. but cant find the info to do it myself.

Fuel pump prime?

Pump is hard wired. Doesn't spark. All I need is a wiring diagram for the 97 model...

What wires have you connected into the Sierra loom?

I would start by un-hard-wiring the pump and connecting it to the ECU fuel relay.

Post subject:  Re: G16b wiring help

its not connected to the sierra loom. the motor is set up in the car, and computer is wired in with power etc from the battery. i dont have a diagram to know what does what exacty, so iv wired what i can direct to a battery.

i need a diagram to know what wire is what.

Post subject:  Re: G16b wiring help

Wires you should have connected:

White wire -> battery - permanent power.
Black and white wire -> ignition on wire in Sierra steering column.
Black and yellow wire -> start circuit again in steering column
Pink wire -> fuel pump

Optional:

Yellow wire -> VSS (vehicle speed sensor)
Purple wire -> check engine light.

Have a look at the wiring diagrams posted. They may not be exactly the same as yours, but they are all similar, and the same wire colours are used for the above connections on all looms (AFAIK)

Is there black/blue that needs to be ignition power in a 1.6 as well or does the ECU take care of it?

Try this.

Oh, and looks like I forgot the black/red permanent power wire to the main relay.

black red is another start signal, hook to black yellow
