2k isn't that much for a gearbox removal, recon, reinstall and H/D clutch. |

You'll get use to the heavy pedal feel, After a H/D clutch was replaced with a STD clutch, a few times It felt like I was going to put my foot through the firewall. The only reason that the std clutch was put in was because I was in the middle of nowhere and the local servo mechanic ordered it. In one of my previous cars, I use to go through a modified H/D clutch at least once a year, I replaced it with a modified cerametalic 5 puck clutch and the pedal felt like a standard clutch but was stronger than a Heavy Duty. |

sounds like you need to lube the cable and get the shop that did it to confirm they replaced the bearings (thrust and throwout) while they were in there.... |

aren't the thrust bearing & thowout bearing the same thing? sounds like typical HD clutch action... |

ive said it a few times , and ill say it again , a heavy duty clutch should not really mean a heavy pedal , ive got the most hardcore 1000 lb clamp pressure clutch and its like a std clutch as far as pedal feel. also as shep said , unless you have a big hp engine , stick with std clutches , misuse will wear out a heavy duty clutch faster than a std clutch. |

ohh and im betting the noise is in your transfer not the gearbox , usual way to tell is that if the noise goes away in 4th , then its the gearbox , if not then its the transfer. reason is , if its the gearbox , its usually the large main front bearing on the input shaft , when in 1st , 2nd , 3rd , and 5th gears the power is transmitted from the input shaft to the lay shaft creating great loads on the input shaft , in 4th gear its 1:1 , meaning that the power from the engine is transmitted directly through the input to output shaft and creates less load on the front bearing. |
