just wondering if u have to pull the transfer apart to change the front output bearing on a 1.3 transfer

No the front output can be removed without pulling the case apart - if you were keen, it could probably even be done with the transfer still in the car.

However, why do you say the bearing needs replacing? If it's due to play, bear in mind it might be the tiny needle bearing inside the end of the transfer mainshaft that supports the front output.

It's pretty fiddly to get out. Still no need to pull the transfer apart, but I bet it's the culprit, and you'll need some tricky tools to get it out.

Last time I pulled one I made a puller out of some cut down allen keys welded together. They really are a PITA to get out.

i used a cold chisel (really narrow and sharp) split it on each side, and then tapped the new bearing in..... and not allot of bearing rebuild kit's come with them..... weaves sells em tho... :D
