Hey guys


Got a glass hard top on my sierra but it dont fit the best

There is about a 25mm gap where it bolts down at the front lower corners behind the hoop and the back corners sit down hard on the tub.


Any chance of some pics of others at these points so i can see how they sit

Will grab some pics tomorrow so you can see what im talking about

They all do that unfortunately. 25mm sounds excessive, but they really don't fit that well. I have one on my vit, and have a 5-10mm gap, which is appauling for a product thats worth $2K.

Mine is the same, huge holes, big rectangular 20x45mm holes. Sucks the exhaust fumes out, that is what I keep telling myself. 85 NT Sierra. Flexiglass shi+.

mine has the same gap down the bottom. after having the quick release clips at the front coming loose while driving down the highway numerous times, i complained, they fitted a new pair on which did the same thing, so i just bought some stainless steel over centre clamps which hold it down nicely. the smart guys in their workshop wired up the interior light to my brake light!!! as fatzook said, appalling quality for the money

Put a red cover over the interior light!

Also, how the hell do they not fit? I'm surprised they can sell a "canopy" that has such large holes???

I've got a challanger with fixed windows- perfect fit.'s.

Tourer top is too long, the spare tyre has cracked it,but it's got sliding windows.

My pick is that you have all got tourer top

my canopy is same, quality is as mentioned above, the worst professional job/fitting i have ever seen in my live. i fixed everything by myself, the professionals have no clue how to fit it or rather don't give a shit about it. that's why i removed all labels from canopy, no free advertisementfor such a shit installation:)
they used a lot of foam to fill the gaps. i used more and silicon.
imagine that front bit of canopy was not only leaking rain between windscreen and top but also flies

To me it seems like the fibreglass top extends too far over the top of the B pillar hoop, which wont let the base of the canopy seat down properly on the top lip of the tub



Might try trimming it back a little and see if i can get it to fit better

i fixed the gap between the tailgate and glass with some rubber trim from clark rubber. same stuff what u use to seal car doors.

and the gap between the guard panels and the fibre glass top i used a strip of rubber that i glue to the base of the hard top

i had to use ratchet straps to keep mine in place while i drilled and bolted mine down but mine fitted normally with no gaps at all

hey mate can u throw some pics up of the roof clamp and what u did u hold it down. my roof keeps coming loose at high speed

I was gonna take that off but you can see the wear marks on the Pillar where it has been sitting.

If i take off that strip and move it back to there the back of the canopy over hangs the tail gate by heaps.

What i was thinking of doing was cutting the front of the canopy back about 20mm to just behind the step down to where the rubber seal is on the front of it, this would allow the front to sit down lower on the pillar and also should lower the bottom edge closer to the top of the tub.

nah dont go chopping it down it just takes a bit off fidling around unil it fits right there made to fit so they will fit some how and i agree with taking the softop runner of

Before i even took it off it didnt fit properly

In the pic that you posted you can see the wear mark about 1/3 of the way onto the pillar, that is where it originally sat when bolted to the car.


Seems way to far forward to me, My thoughts are after removing the soft top channel strip the canopy should butt up against the stepped section of the pillar/hoop and not ride up over the top of it by about 50-60mm like it does now

Line A in the pic below is where the front of the canopy sits when bolted on to the car.

Line B is where i was thinking of trimming it back to so i could get it to sit properly.

It looked to be Ok in your build thread, no glass roof fit's well, apart from Maruti..

Yeah pics in build thread were taken same time as pics in this thread.

Top is not bolted down, just sitting on the car.


Might have a play with moving the bolt holes on the weekend and see if i can get it any better.
