my sierra has a vitara 1.6, and stock transfer gears etc (92 wt)

i want to know peoples opinions on off road performance between 31"s and say, 29"s or 30's?

i cant afford to do transfer case gears for awhile but i dont want to have a sierra that will drive like shit on bigger tyres..
(speedo isnt an issue, i use gps speedo)

will it perform as well on 30"s and drive nice on 30"s? or will i still have crappy ratio problems?

sorry for all the noob questions.. i appreciate anyones inputs.

thanks.

31's are bearable with stock gearing and a 1.6

I drove mine like that for a week in while i was waiting to put my gears in...

Bottom like its though, for the sake of $6-700 your better off getting the gears straight away.

30's will drive better but what happens a month or two down the track when you get your reduction and want to go bigger again...

My opinion is wait until you have the money for it all and do it all at once... much better outcome :)

Sorry, another alternative could be 5.12 diffs. BUT unless you do the work yourself this will be more expensive then buying tcase gears.

I've had my 31's on for about 6 months on stock gearing with 1.3L while I wait to put my reduction gears in. It's ok on road (just don't expect to use 5th gear ever) and offroad is bearable, just be aware that you will burn through your clutch a lot quicker
