I have these plugs that dont have a bolt head they invert with what looks like a 1/2" drive like on the end of a socket extension? is there a proper tool i can buy to undo these to change my fluids?

Have you tried a 3/8" drive ratchet or breaker bar?

to answer the question yes there is a tool for undoing, hard to get though cause the square is close enough to a 3/8 ratchet, not perfect though and youll have dramas if the plug is tight

Let me know when all else FAILS and you have stripped the inside.
There are a couple of options available, but do what was said above first.
