it should have a shallow recess in it like this
get a screw driver in on the edge of it & pry it out.

I've finally pulled the busted front legs off Humzuki to find this! This is the end of the diff, so does it need to be replaced or will if be fine as it is? |

looks like the cap from the CV has ended up in the recess of the LHS axle? |

Just gave it a fair old tap...and nothing. What's the end of the axle meant to look like? Should it be flat? |

They don't all have recesses in them, some axles protrude, and the recess is in the cv. One of those axles we got cut down had to have the recess machined in it.

So I've learnt two things today, 1. These cv's never had an end cap, so the damage in the pic is permanent. 2. The dickheads fixed someone else's shaft and gave it to me. Pissed big time!!! Drivers side back in and all good, passenger side is about 50mm to long...what's it take to get a job done right these days? |
