If you fellas saw my other thread i had a severe wobble and clanking when going over speed bumps. I only just got my sierra on monday, then took it to pedders. and check out this quote guys... wait for it. $3023.08 Springs are sagging 4 inches (probably an exaggeration by them) Front shocks are stuffed Steering damper stuffed Swivel hub & bearings Gearbox mount was f**ked, he was moving the gearbox around with his hand. Same with motor mounts. So i definitely won't be going ahead with that quote but its nice pedders run you through all the problems and physically show you under the car. Now i can source cheaper parts and do it myself (except perhaps the swivels as he says they're a bitch to do) And he's got cheap 2 inch raised springs he can sell cheap since a previous customer ran off after ordering em' so i might go ahead and go for those. Anyway what do you fellas reckon i should source myself and fit myself, and get pedders to do? thanks. |

Swivels arent too bad, just time comsuming. If you have a mate that can help and you know what you are doing you will be fine... all of that (less buying new springs) should cost around $500 at most... |

If you slightly mechanical minded, and you know how to search this site for info, Do it all yourself. 4" sagging springs? Stock springs only have 2" sag before they get to the bumps.. Shocks are the simplest things to replace-$200ish guessing for parts Dampner same-$100 part only Swivel hubs and bearings, 'Weaves' may be able to help you out with a kit, or get one from lowrange.com, or other parts places will supply them. $? They are not a bitch to do..Bit unprofessional.. They are just time consuming. pull out, clean, regrease etc. Gearbox mount is simple also. 6x M8 bolts.. Motor mounts simple also.. Do not get the 2" springs off him, probably cost you 2k with the rest of that price.... OR Give it to me, i will do it for 2k with parts included.. |

Pedders are great! There's a reason their logo is a bull wearing a helmet ... and that's that they charge like a wounded bull! lol I've used them occasionally for their 28 point safety check. Quite happy to pay $14 for them to put it up on the hoist and look over it, then take the report and fix whatever they've identified myself. |

my rear 2'' springs cost $111 each from Arb, my front 2'' springs cost $81 each from Arb, Full rubber bushes off ebay for around $60. easy to do when swapping springs remove the sway bar. Me and me brother rebuilt my front swivel hubs in a day, both sides (me no experience with swivel hubs, brother with experience from rebuilding his hilux) shocks can be done in 10 minutes, the gabriel part numbers are available on this site and can be bought for $45 each at super cheap. springs are easily done, last time I did my fronts it took me 1hr to do both sides. (had done it about three times in the preceeding month) first time took me a couple of hours engine mounts can be bought off ebay for around $45-50. Straight forward to swap out if you have something to support the engine. Same for gear box You'll be able to do it for a but load cheaper, and you'll learn how your car is put together and be able to better maintain and repair it. also theres an $87 on the last page that is for nothing... JMHO |

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Suzuki-Sierra-2- ... 288wt_1139 cheers Why bother? Are your U bolts or bushes rooted? You can put together a kit better then that yourself for the same price, if not cheaper... Theres more then enough information on this site to get you sorted... If i were you, i would be looking at taking this as an oppourtunity to do abit or work. -Sort out a rear up front -Commo/hilux shocks -Replace mounts/upgrade mounts -rebuild swivel hubs -buy my monroe damper for $60 You could easily fix all of these issues in a weekend hey. I'm sure there would be plenty of blokes down in sydney that could give you a hand for an hour or two aswell |

wrong end. u need commodore wagon rear shocks, and 2wd hilux rear shocks. the commodores go in the front, hilux in the rear. there would be heaps of info on here no doubt, try the search function. might have to wade thru some crap till u find the info tho. just an example. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Holden-Commodore ... 1c19183b56 http://shop.ebay.com.au/i.html?rt=nc&LH ... 86.c0.m301 |

Whilst my car would never go anywhere near pedders, lets be honest, all the parts prices listed here are retail for like-for-like replacement, and $1K worth of labour, whilst it seems high, would be about right ( I guess it would be a very full day or maybe a day and a bit.) Is it a lot money? Hell yes - I've just bought a tow rig for less, but a workshop has to make a living, and a franchise will have parts prices and labour rates set for it, and none of those prices are exorbitant from what I can see. Would I pay it? No, but I do all my own work and have all my own tools, so I'm not a pedders customer. By all means take you money elsewhere, but is the quote "insane" - based on parts and labour, no, actually it isn't. Steve. |
