If it has a speedo cable is it the one I want to bolt into my 95 Sierra for a reduction? Cheers

All versions of Sierra (and LJ!) transfer cases have the speedo cable coming off the back of the case. The type of 1.0 t/case you want for reduction AND to be able to swap flanges to fit a W/T has a light switch just in front of the shift lever. You can see it easily when the case is sitting on the ground, but you can also feel for it if it is still in the vehicle.

If you get the 1L transfer case with no light you need to change the flanges on the ends of the drive shafts using half half unis, not the transfer case, and you do need to change the speedo cable too.

The one on the left is a 1.3NT with 6.5s and the one on the right is the no light 1L.

Yeah righto. This one looks to have something in front of the shifter. So me thinks it's the right one.

Are the one with the light a straight bolt on job with a flange exchange?

Yep, the ones on the transfer case. You will need a 27mm (i think) socket, a thin center punch to tap out the pinch an a whopping great breaker bar to undo the nuts

Jungas - it looks like you have about 31" tyres. I'm not sure a shift light case is the best answer. They are worth good money ( about $400 in the trade) because of the lower gearing.... but a set of 6.5 transfer gears is about $600.. and that includes most of a transfer rebuild.

I reckoned I'd want to put gears in the shift light case pretty soon anywaym so spending more money on the 1.0 case would be a waste.

To say they are worth this or that is nonsence, basicly they are worth whatever someone will pay for them.

That is the perfect example shep, so you could say they worth $200 or worth nothing?
