ok i know of a 4e-fte sierra, dont know any details on it unfortunately.
A opportunity has come up where i can get on real cheap with loom, computer everything i need.
I need to make my mind up quick though as there is a small window on this.
Does anyone have any info on this conversion?
I assume it uses a t50 gear box. I actually have a t50 pattern w57 lieing around so that should be over kill
Can anyone help?

I think this was covered not long ago, and everyone (including myself) pooh poohed the idea. I'll try and find a link.

Are they a cast steel block like the 4ag's? I'd rather a lighter motor in a mini

I reckon it wold be lighter
dead set, I can just heave a short motor out of the back of my car and the box is about as much as youd want to carry

ok i can see why it was poo pooed in a vitara. Much better bolt in optrions. In fact if i was to reply i would poo poo.
But here is my reasoning....
motor, loom ecu will be free. Might give the guy $20
i have a 1ltr anyway so as fair as i can tell even bolt in options like the gti will be a pain in the arse
I also have a w to t50 series bellhousing, so i can even use a hilux box and bolt it to a 4age and any other t50 series engine
i know someone ages ago was talking about making k series to a series bellhousings. This would make the conversion a little better as k series boxes are $50-$100 and dont need hydro clutch

Also i find it funny as that you poo pooed it, but are putting a moo into yours (3.8 v6). Who would you not put in a sr20de instead?
The vvt sr20de makes plenty of torque and the same the same power as a moo.
Has stronger boxes at half the cost of moo boxes, clutches will be about $20 (just get barley used det ones for people upgrading), all alloy block with 2 less pistons...much much lighter, cop (coil on plug) meaning easier to seal for water crossing (much easier than the vn external packs). sr20de's are cheap as well, its the det's that cost coin (not that you would ever blow one in a zook)
the only adv i can think of with the moo is the map instead of afm....but meh, put the afm in the snorkel and go anywhere.

For $20.... get it. Then you can bolt the whole lot together and start measuring to see how much of a PITA this will be. It may work out the same as fitting a G16 and vit box.. But cheaper

haha too true. As i said in my other thread i kind of dont want this to become a project. I dont want another car sitting in the shed for a year not getting driven. Just want to have some fun with this one. If mine was a 1.3 would just do a gti conversion. piece together everything i need slowly and smah it out in a weekend

Steady up mate don't get too excited, read this carefully - very very few K50's have an A series bolt patern, they usually have a K series bolt patern because they were made for K series engines thus the name K50 i.e K for the series engine and 50 for 5 gears. The T50 is for the T series engine and again 50 is for 5 gears. The early T50's were from Celica's that had 2T and 3T engines. When they stoped making the T series engine and went to the A series engine they kept the T50 box but cast it with a new bell housng to fit the newly released A series engine. The bell housing is not removeable.
The exception to this is in the change over model, the very first AE70 Corollas came with a 3A engine and a K50 box with bellhousing cast to suit the 3A, it had the cable clutch. These are as rare as mint LJ50's and some people say they were not actually released in Australia.
The next model dropped the 3A for a 4A and they then dropped the K50 in favour of the stronger T50.
But if you insist that they fit I have 2 K50's you can have for $150 each and a T50 you can have for $400 I also have a A series 3 speed auto but not sure I want to sell it yet.

yeah i know all this, but one of the reasons that put me off was i heard that the t50's bellhousing had to be modded, add the that the hydro set up, pedal box etc and the cost of a t50 for a relatively weak box etc (although i did sell one recently for $200) i was put off. But then read the k50/40 bolt straight up. I would have checked this and confirmed.
Doesn't matter now anyway as i found out today i missed my chance on the engine.
