 I have recently put new bearings in my transfercase, drove it last week to make sure all was good which it was, after putting a new water pump and belts on yesterday, drove it again this afternoon and it was all good until it creeped out of 2hi and grinded, so stopped put it back it did it again, the only way to keep it in gear was to hold the stick, I am lost as to what it could be. yeah i have the same problem with mine i put it into low and it jump back out 
but im planing on changing my transfercase so wasent to fust but wouled be good to get a answear |

The shifter bush is normally the culprit for transfer cases jumping out of gear I believe... |

Haveyou got a body lift? Cos Sometimes the shifter does go 100% into place and jumps out. |

detent balls??? did ya put em back in?? busted mount causing it to pop out?? would of also suggested bush like the others but thought you would of picked up on it being that shagged during the rebuild. |

Okay guys should have given more info, also put in 3 new mounts, new shifter bush kit and it has a 20mm bodylift installed, with the detent balls, I put them back in according to the trailcreeper gear install instructions, 2 small ones for the shifter arms and the bigger one for the switch |

Remove the rubber boots and go for a drive and see if it still jumps out. The rubber could be putting to much strain on stick, or it could be hitting the body. |

The boot around the shifter? I stuck my head under the car when I got to my missus' the stick looks to have a good 30 or so mm from the left and front of the body in 2hi, the rubber boot is new aswell what would be a way tocure this if it's the fault? |

Could be, new rubber is quite firm and not all floppy like a used one. Worth taking it off and going for a spin. |

Okay just took the rubber boot off and tried to drive it, it wouldn't go into high at all lowrange is fine, but when trying high in either 2 or 4wd the stick feels like it has gone in but as the clutch is released it makes the same grinding sound as if it was moving trying to put it back in gear, it's driving me abit  Anyone have any suggestions as to where the problem could lie?

Hmm... I'm starting to lean towards some sort of mistake reassembling the case if you have just rebuilt it

That would have been my first thought to only that I drove it for 20 or so kays last week and it was flawless, but I'm leanin towards that now so it will be coming back out on Saturday and will check it out |

I think I have found my problem i undid the the rubber mounts from the chassis and it goes into highrange fine, unsure whether the long arm is twisted alittle or the mounts where to tight, is there any set torque for the nuts on the chassis side of the rubber mounts?? |

Ok new question, whilst I was pulling the case out so I can split it to see if there is any obvious reason for my issue I had all the shafts disconnected and it was going in to high fine, when I grab the jackshaft flange it would grind while spinning the tailshaft flanges, now I have dropped the oil it won't do it at all, I used vmx 80 would this be causing the problem? |

Pretty sure I've got VMX80 in my case, and it doesn't cause any dramas, so I doubt it... |

Q1 . Did you fit the gears ? Q2 . Do you think you put the thrust washers in correctly , the one's on the centre idler shaft Q3 . Do you have any play between the input shaft and rear output shaft Q4 . When moving input flange back and forth , does it sound like something is clunking back and forth. Cheers Paul. |

So have definitely found my problem, seems when putting new bearings on the output shaft I have forgotten the spacer between the bearing and high speed gear  , so I now need help with where to source one from and if they are all the same? Your help would be much appreciated to help fix my f*ck up
