Post subject:  Best online stores in the USA for sierra Parts

Hi all i'm looking at getting parts from the USA what are the best online stores to use.

I am waiting on my zook to arrive and i would like to do some homework in regrds to upgrades.

Can i please make a few requests, If you make a reply in this thread please state:

1. What parts you bought
2. Cost of parts
3. Where did you buy them from (What website)

I know we should support our Aussie companies, but sometimes it is hard especially if you can get the same parts from the USA at a fraction of the price. Hell if i had enough money for things i wouldn't buy from the USA, but as you can tell i'm a bit of a tight arse.

If i have broken any rules please let me know i will rectify them asap.

Thanks

Conrad

I wont buy anything straight away, i will spend most of my cash on wheeling for now but i was just starting this thread up to find prices of what other fellow zookers have paid for things (Research for a later date)

I will spend some cash on a front bar though, i will be driving the zook up and down from Bunbury to Collie, i want a bar cos those friggin roos are bad in the morning. in the last year i have hit a few, i would hate to ride my new zook off, and a bar would be cheap insurance.

What would be the best bar too get?

Cheers

ARB bars would be the best for strength & protection.

This bloke makes some cool bars :D

If he ever makes a winch version, I might get rid of my home made bar...

Yes, but two points here:

A) If an ARB bar is made of cheese, Sierra chassis must be, unfortunately made of whipped cream. The idea is that the bar absorbs the impact and thereby transfers less shock into the chassis. If the bar absorbed no impact, all the impact force would be transferred into the chassis, and that would likely bend it, totalling the car, or taking out the radiator ruining your day.

I'd say the bar did it's job. I assume that was an animal strike at speed?

Yes, it's easy to make a stronger bar, but you'd need to know what you were trading off to do it - a good bullbar isn't necessarily one that doesn't deform. Lets assume a more rigid bar didn't deform but broke the mounts out of the chassis and fell on the ground - not excellent either.

B) ARB only make winch bars now which are more rigid between the uprights to keep the winch stable under load.

Steve.

Personally I'd rather bend a $50-200 SWB chassis than wreck a $900 bar.

LWB chassis is another story though
