Ultimate motor is the G16B EFI motor from a vitara. My 87 SJ40t flew with the G16B in it. Start a build thread mate |

Fatzooks said it before, i'll say it again, its the engine that should have been standard in Sierra's |

G16B, reduction gears, 31-33" tyres, 2" spring lift (rear springs front and back), power steering (jimny bolts in, vitara with a BenT kit), Good sliders, shortened tray and other little bits and pieces, thats a start there, others will chime in with some helpful hints |

100% opinion. i believe a 20V 4age would kill that in every way.. the g16b are a good motor and easy to put in tho. |

Brisbane Motor Imports sell low KM import front cuts and enginer for around $1500... dont know it they are any good though.. If you want it to be a no brainer and have a spare $1700, Fatzook has a G16B with the loom etc set up for a sierra for sale still i think, would be as bolt in as you will find. |

Maybe in perth but 31's and 2" spring is legal in QLD (31" is something still of a grey area...) But 2" lift is fine. |

I don't know the exact amounts allowable here, there or anywhere. If 31" (grey area or otherwise) and a 2" suspension lift is allowed, then all's good. I was kind of playing the devil's advocate for the benefit of the new to Suzuki person |

It is all going to depend on your budget and your ability. My first question is how old are you, is this your first car, are you on P's. My second queston is do you have heaps to spend or are you wanting a project that is not going to cost much. i.e. the engine that has been suggested may be the best option however it is going to cost you more than 4 times what your car is currently worth before you even start looking at anything else to do to it, My third question is how complete is the car, is it rolling on wheels, does it have an engine, gearbox, transfercase, drive shafts, is the body complete etc. Answer these and I am sure people can give you good advice. |

Not saying you cant, but if you get picked up your fucked... |

BUT being a 1lt, you may be up for some drama. If its a platic dash it will have the 1.3L mounts which makes the 1.6 conversion alot easier, if its a metal dash its only 1L mounts and that means your in for ALOT more work to fit the engine. |

I don't know what 5ierra is talking about, all 1litres have the same engine mounts on the chassis, he may be talking about the difference in gearbox mount between type 1 (small 4speed) and type 2 (large 4speed, same size as a 5 speed) gearboxes. However if you have a non disc brake model it is probably an early one with small gearbox. Ok so this is why I asked those initial questions, because it changes any advice that people should be giving to you. You are inexperienced and on P's so if you want to stay legal and keep your licence you will need to stay 1 Litre because you can't drive a car with an engine upgrade on your P's. So that means your money can go into the suspension. I would suggest that you keep it as stock looking as possible and learn to drive it offroad till you are on your opens. Again I don't know what 5ierra means about WT axles because disc brakes off any sierra, 1 Litre, NT or WT will bolt on. |

He was asking for mod advice, IMO wt axels on NT spacing is one of the best suspension/axel mods you can do... I was reinforcing that by sayin that if you did the WT swap you would have disks on the front (more then enough to pull up 31's) As for the mounts i'm only passing on what i've been told. I was told that the early sierra had different engine mounts, Sierra's with steel dashes we alot more difficult because they dont have the mount location/mounts required for 1.3/1.6, but the plastic dash models did. There was also more fabrication involved for the handbrake and different little shit like that. |

mate in not really worried about mod plates 2 more yrs and im on my opens this will be a long time project main things i wanna get done engine and 5 speed gearbox cause the ltr i have now has been rebuild twice so i think its reached the end of its life suspension and brakes that way i can drive it on the trailer instead of winching it i will slowly get things bit by bit |

No worries but I can tell you 100% that it does not matter if you have a steel dash, plastic dash if it is a factory 1litre it will have 1Litre mounts on the chassis which are different to the 1300 mounts. If there is someone who has a 1Litre with factory 1300 chassis mounts please post a pic because I have never seen such a thing, it would mean that the engine brackets would be unique to that model. I think it is the two different gearbox mounts that have confused the issue. At the moment I have two 1Litres at home, a 1988 1Litre (plastic dash) and a 1982 1Litre (metal dash) I will take some photos tommorrow, they have exactly the same mounts. I have been involved in three conversions to Maruti's in the last 3 years two were NT and one was a 1994 WT Maruti they have all had the same 1 Litre mounts that we had to cut off the chassis. Yeah I agree 5ierra WT/NT is definately one of the best suspension/axel mods you can do. |
