| Post subject: | Problem with new tail lights? |
Hey guys i wish i didnt find this at this time of night... But i thought my new tail lights were working fine until i hoped in and noticed nothing was happening when i pushed the brake pedal down. When the normal parkers are on the brake lights are fulling lit though? All the other lights (the blinkers and the reverse lights) are all 100%, just these bloody brake lights are bugging me now Ive had a poke around and i checked the fuses, but i am not sure? The globes the guy had in the other ones had 2 contacts in the bottom, different to the reverse and blinker bulbs. Not sure if thats right though? Plus they are red, which my grand dad said hes never seen before? Anyone have any idea what it might be? This is gonna keep me awake tonight i know it... |

Thats with the park lights on, park lights off brake lights still do nothing? Problem is though the bulbs in there have 2 pins at 2 different depths, so it can only really go one way? Can someone tell me if its the right globe to even use? Or more actually what globe should i be using |

Take the bulb out & see if the contact's are still in there properly, they like to fall out of the holder on light's like those.. |

The contacts in the housing or the bulb? |

The contacts in the housing or the bulb? I have seen them sit to low, so the contact on the bulb won't reach em.... You could stretch the spring behind the contact holder or build up the bulb with solder, if that's the problem. |

Yeah i thought of that, but whats got me is that the bulb works the wrong way around when the park lights are on? Unless both housings are wired up wrong, which i HIGHLY doubt? |

Hey guys im slowly getting there! I refuse to pay someone else (auto elect) to fix it for me So i worked out that the bulb im using is the correct one BUT there was a mix up in the plug when it first came to me OR the dude before me has been mucking around. So i removed the connections from the new housings and swapped over the park lights and the brake lights, and all is good now in the park lights department. Issue now is the brake lights dont come on at all when pressed in. (one of the many electrical issues!) Im happy though im slowly learning and making progress. Only thing is laying under the car and playing with wires when the cars on the side of the road is not the safeest option |

I don't think we should tell them what the problem was Let's just say, minor technical difficulty with the lights plug. |

Haha i dont really mind, beginners mistake. One of the contacts on the brake plug wasnt going in all the way. Brute force made it work I think it was strange though, only needed to push one in and they both worked? Either way, i dont want to fuck with it now its working |
