The vents rarely leak for any other reason that being blocked. Pull the rubber drain tubes off and clean them out. They will be full of years and years worth of leaf and dirt buildup.

It comes through the fresh air vent on the scuttle like you said.

The water that collects in there should drain through 2 rubber hoses through the firewall in the engine compartment. These hoses attach to the heater box under the dash, and may have become dislodged.

I'm yet to see a air tight sierra...

With a/c you should swap to fresh or wind down a window every once & a while, but a sierra is far from a perfect seal....

We have a few problems with leaking cars up here.

Get a hose on low and a brick, and direct the flow starting from the bonnet up.

With a torch from the inside, check the hinges[bonnet and screen], and the wipers, and the water squirtee thing.

Mine have found a way of leaking from all these places.

bye

Well it hasn't worked, but I got that silicon that ya can put on wet surfaces, and applied it witha match from the out side.

Plan 1024 is to leave the cars under cover, and working fine so far.

I've just pulled the floor plugs out, and flung the matts in the back.

BOM reckon it'll stop raining soon, so that will solve the problem for a couple of months, and who plans that far ahead.

bye

x2 on the plate over the vents.

Also siliconed front window seal.

I've had tape over the vent for a couple of months, it didn't seem to make any difference.

bye

Mine turned into a bath the first time i ever drove it... Good fun.. All i did was replace the windscreen seal with some crap from clark rubber, (25x10 high density foam) and two tubes of silicon.. Plus flushed the drains out with the hose and silicond them back on. now the only leak i get is tiny and from the top of the windscreen seal.. Drips down from around the mirror.

If you mean the seal under the screen for when it folds up/down then I did this too, minus the silicon. Just got the softer black foam and it worked aces!

I did have HEAPS of water on the floor the other night though, although I think that was because I was driving with the windows down, it drips straight down from the top front corner of the drivers window and hits the floor without me noticing (it was dark) and I was like wtf where did all this water come from? But since I wasn't getting a drip on the foot like I used to, I realised it was just from the window (I hope)

I know guys that use a magnetic door sign, and slap it over the outside vent behind the bonnet, works good, and is removable.

I had a mystery leak that used to come down and fill my passengers (your drivers side) floor. The things it got the ECM wet at the same time.

It turns out it was the upper part of the door seal. An old member to another forum pointed that one out to me.

If you get a mystery leak on the floor, and no idea how it gets own there check the upper seal on the door, right about where it takes the turn down to meet the windshield.
