I'm a dumbarse and forgot to measure it before I left home this morning. Need to pick up a socket on the way home so I can strip some diffs, can someone tell me what size the nut is?

I get the feeling its a 26mm maybe?

Thanks in advance

Alrighty... on to the next question. How the hell do people usually get these things off? Centre punched out the little locking tab bit on the nut but made no difference at all.

420 foot pounds of air impact wrench on the maximum setting doesnt budge it. A 2 metre long metal pole on a breaker bar just moves my better half around the garage as she tries to prevent it from turning despite her best efforts.

Anyone got any bright ideas? Find a bigger impact wrench?

Assuming the diff is still in the car:

Your 2m extension, set up so its touching the ground and either rock the car back or forward (which ever way undoes it). Failing that, set up the breaker bar again as previous, put the car in 4 low hubs locked and drive over it (again the correct way that undoes the nut).

FYI she will be tight!

Cheers fellas.

Alas the diff isn't in the car so there goes that idea. That said I give you an A+ for outside the box ideas Dan :)

I'll find another long pole and give the breaker bar another go tomorrow night. The M8 bolts Im using to stop the flange turning are already starting to look a bit worse for wear. Crazy tight.

Failing that, diff shop might be the go. /sigh
