Post subject:  Best headlight reflectors for sierra?

Hey all - searching turns up a lot on globes but not much on reflectors...

Whats the general recommended unsealed reflector with good spread etc?

My current headlights are more than filled with mud from last year and need replacing!

I'm hoping to buy them locally rather than online so i can fit them friday.

Sealed beam, old school but definitely the way of the future.

No more mud.

Dank usually has some in stock, he could probably express post them to you.

I have HIDs in mine and did quite a few big bog holes on the weekend with no dramas.

express post wouldnt be quick enough to perth - it'd need to be platinum to make it in time... lol

are there any stores that stock them like supercrap etc?

I've had sealed beam and they just dont put out enough for me, i much prefer unsealed (and i'll be plugging the park light hole in my new ones).

Cant you just swish some LCR around in them and clean them up?

Wear glasses if your using air to blow them out afterwards.

Post subject:  Re: Best headlight reflectors for sierra?

a trip to the wreckers to see if anything happens to have a good lens in it?

Rovers, gq/mq, beetles, older corolla's and a few others all run this style of light. you might stumble onto something?

$320 is madness

Care to narrow that down a little? There a dozen stores in metro brisbane alone. And my local DOES NOT stock them.

I was at stones corner about a month ago and they had a set, last year at mansfield they had some as well.

My point was, try repco!

they have heaps of semi sealed beam headlights, i bought some for my sierra and they were really good. I can't remember if i got hella or narva.

Just got shitty old Narva's in mine. With std 55/60 globes and upgraded loom they actually seem quite good, certainly miles ahead of the shitty things it came with.

Post subject:  Re: Best headlight reflectors for sierra?

If you guys find a good name let me know. I am looking for some reflectors with a decent pattern too, maybe something I can stuff HID's in later.

I got some eBay specials in another deal I did, the Polarg blue lglobes that came with them sucked, I have some extra-visions in them now and they do a LOT better than the stock sealed halogens, even with a somewhat "eh-ookay" reflector. The Phillips Xtra-vision globes really made the reflectors :D

What I am looking for is a semi-inexpensive reflector that does a decent pattern. These put out a lot of light to see down the road, but the pattern kind of "splats" and I don't like the idea of blinding or sending glare in to other drivers eyes... or front windows of houses LMAO.

I have cheap h4 inserts with 55watt 5000k hid and these suckers are aweasome, the rubbers are sealed on the back with threebond grey sealant and they are totally waterproof and as hids run fairly cool its all good sealwise.
You dont need a wiring uprade although it certainly couldnt hurt as the only draw 55w once warm.

may not be a good daily option as they are uber bright in 55 watt maybe 35 w would be ok for a daily, offroad they are insane at night you can see 500m up the track and about 30m wide
just another option for you

Where did you get the HID's?

Post subject:  Re: Best headlight reflectors for sierra?

Thanks for the referrals guys.

You can get HID kits off me. If you guys join my facebook fan page here: http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/KPD-In ... 5544068369

or visit my website here: www.kpd4x4.com - It's currently a work in progress.

then you will find my contact details :P

I currently have the Headlights which have an LED Park Light ring and a few H4 High/low beam HID Kits in stock to fit to these bad boys. Normally i sell them for $114.95 delivered for the lights and $220 delivered for the HID kits. I will do a pair of headlights and one H4 HID Kit to do both lights delivered for $250.00.

Skyman I can happily ship these to WA, USA for $300 delivered via Express Post Air Mail. Paypal is also easy for payment.

I've currently got 5 HID kits left in stock. These are 55watt 4300k and 6000k kits. 6000k is a bit bluer than the 4300k's which are the automotive industry standard.

Shamless plug, but i'll always look after Auszookers members. If keen PM me with shipping details and email address and I can send you an invoice for payment.

Post subject:  Re: Best headlight reflectors for sierra?

how waterproof are they? I'm interested in upgrading my lights as the sealed beams i got are crap. I use to have semi sealed but was sick of replacing reflectors every 2 months from water getting into them.

Author:  dank [ Thu Mar 17, 2011 3:45 am ]
Post subject:  Re: Best headlight reflectors for sierra?

They are as waterproof as any semi sealed beam light! best thing to do is install the globe then silicon on the rubber boot and run a breather line from the boot to somewhere higher in the engine bay. This way it won't suck water in.

As neo said he drove some decent bogholes on the weekend and they were fine.

You are always going to run the risk of getting water in them, it's all about how far you are willing to go to keep them dry for the benefit of sik headlights that actually do something.

I've sold countless sets of these lights and I've never had a complaint about how waterproof they are.

This to me is a good thing as normally customers will only contact you to have a whinge!
