Post subject:  Transfer case problem - needs replacing

Hi, I have just pulled the transfer case from my Suzuki SJ40 apart and the gear teeth inside the selector gear are VERY warn and the bearings and seals are shot so I am thinking of replacing it with a second-hand box.

Is there any advantages or draw backs in using a 1.3lt. case (I am also putting a 1.3lt engine and gearbox in it.

Alot of 1.3 blokes are trying to fit 1liter cases for better gearing... Depends on what you want todo with it gearing wise i guess?

1.0 transfer is 12% lower in high and low than a 1.3 case.

If you are fitting a 1.3 motor/box and keeping your 4.11 (1.0) diffs then a 1.3 transfer will be fine as your diffs will pull your overall ratio down to below a stock 1.3. Should run 235/75-15's beautifully.

Thank you Want33s - Are the mountings about the same or is there big mods to do?

A 1.3 case should bolt straight in as long as you get the brackets with it...
You might find the holes in the chassis mounts are big but large thick washers will sort that out.
