Does anyone know how a LP Gas conversion would go in a Zook :?
I've got a late 96 model with the g13ba engine. I do about 70km a day & fuel is getting beyond a joke :x
If the government give this lpg conversion rebate I might take it up!
Any thoughts :?:

cant see why the engine couldnt hack it, but youd need a 60l tank to keep your range whch wont fit under the back I think so loss of interior space

power loss would be bad to I think

not to mention youll be waiting til next year to get it done, plus 70km a day is oonly 7lt, how much fue wi you save in a year?

Lossing space would be the real killer. I don't have that much to start with :( . I might have to consider other pasive alternatives like a snorkel & standard road tyres for during the week.
Thanks :)

Ok, this is how is would work, You would have to calculate how much space you want to take up ? tanks come in various shapes sizes. Also do you want to run staight gas or duel fuel, you do save around 20% and as for power and economy all depends on how it is tuned and how you drive.I use to get better economy out of gas than fuel in my commodore.. As for gas systems there are 2 types Positive and negitive pressure. Eg impco is a negitive pressure system as lovato, sprint gas, omvl and gas research are positive pressure. Any other questions dont hesitate to post. 8)

As a matter of fact, this subject came up on the radio yesterday actually. They were saying unless you drive 20,000 kms a year, it would not be of benefit to you.

So it's up to the individual to weigh up their options.

ETA: Also, the Government are going to place an excise tax on Gas in or about 2012. That's a fair way off from now, but something to think about anyhow.

I just did some sums on my usage and fuel at $1.25 and gas at .58c

I would save $1000 a year, so I'm guessing after 2 years I would be even

only problem is because Gas has been bashed so much over the years the infastructure isnt there, I cant drive the direct route from here to Rover Park in a car that gets 400km out of its gas tank, not enough fill up spots, same with Sydney to Brisbane via the highway, you cant run gas all the way

so that leaves straight gas out, duel fuel sucks IMHO beacuse of the power loss and nowhere to put the tank in a zook

[politcal royce] IMHO they would be better served dumping some excise on ethanol blends and giving a baby bonus (hehe) to people to convert to run something like E50 and bio diesel, better for the environment, better for the farmers and better for our pocket and it should give the oil companies some competition [/political Royce]

Hey royce ,not sure on the size and where your fuel tank is located, but some companies do cut down fuel tank that fits underneath with the gas tank. I will ring a supplier mate and find out what kits are available for the power house 1.6 EFI 2 door Vit.

a total of 12.5 cents which gets phased in over 5 years

Unless you have someone that will fit the tank properly & tune to your specific car .. i wouldnt bother .. yuo would get better economy out of normal fuel. Most of yuo guys here know my POS & i would gladly swap back to my normal fuel tank & be rid of the Gas .. its' way more hassel than it's worth.

I have just had my car ( not alowed to mention the type here)
tuened properly & get 400kms out of a 95lt tank Yes i do have a 4.5lt engine... BUT that is the best i will get.

now .. gas you usually burn double the amount of fuel .. SO when you think about it that way .. you arent saving much are you ?

stuff gas. not enough room to put the round tank into a zook.

i rekon it would be awesome if suzuki brought out a diesel engine that would fit in my zook. now thats something i would buy

if this rebate does come in, the price of a getting a conversion done will skyrocket

we drive zuks with 4 cylinders that are less than 2 litres capacity, i wouldnt be worried bout fuel consumption...........unless you drive a 4.8 litre petrol patrol like my mate does

Your right, as soon as the government gives the rebate the price will get bumped up to cash in.
Availability is another concern. not for short trips, but for the camping spots.
we'll have to see what happens but i'll probably stick to fuel. :)
