When i slam the key over, the started motor doesnt kick in. But when i back it off a little and jiggle it around a bit, i get get the ignition to talk to the starter and the get the car to start with full power getting to the starter. Any ideas on what this could be? any ideas would be great. cheers Tim. |

When i first got my Sierra it had problems like you are having but with the lights and wipers. My rig had sat outside in the weather and been through a lot of dust too. Everyone recommended taking it apart and cleaning the contacts, but instead I took off the cover for the ignition and column and sprayed the snot out of it with electric contact cleaner (non flammable). I used the whole bottle, and worked the ignition, wipers, and signal switches. for about half the can of spray a bunch of brown gooey fluid came out, it started clearing toward the end of the bottle, and I sprayed till it came out clean. Since then all of the switches have worked flawless. You may have to take the column apart and clean the contacts, but for the cost of some contact cleaner (tree-fiddy) it was worth a shot. I would give that a try, and then take desperate measures if you have to. Hope that helps --Sky |
