Hey guys, I tried searching but couldn't find what i was looking for. Anyway i was looking at a iron man lift kit and had a few questions. Should i get the foam cell shocks or just the nitro gas??? What length shocks do i need 4 2" lift??? I have seen some people talking about commodore and hiace shocks, am i better off getting just the springs and using those shocks?? Why are the commodore and hiace shocks used, are they a better option because of there length/ size?.

Unless you are doing lots 4wheelin, or driving on lots of corrugated roads, Nitro Gas is good... the Ironman shocks, are all extended travel shocks !
But if you want lots of flex, the the Commo shocks will do that... but if you are gonna be doing lots of rough 4wheelin, or driving lots of corrugated roads, the shocks will get hotter and fade quicker than proper, bigger bore 4x4 shocks...
As for Ironman Suspension, i have the 35mm lift kit in my GV, and i love it, gives me twice the flex of stock... i went with the performance Nitro shocks, they are stiffer, and give me much less body roll onroad, handles very well onroad now, they are rated for Medium to heavy loads... but you could get the comfort shocks, for light to no loads, if you want a softer ride...

I think I have the gas shocks in mine, and the 50mm lift springs all round (were in it when I bought it) but be careful, If you do a search on here you will find my thread and see that those springs will move your rear diff back (at least mine is I'm not sure if they all do but I think it does that because the springs are longer) which causes the shocks and the axle to have a bit of a clearance issue...
Long story short, check it all out before you go wheeling with it and smash the hell out of your shocks or brake line. I had no idea they would do that because I didn't realise they hadn't been wheeled since the new suspension was put on. It's not a major issue if you can fix it yourself, but it takes a little bit of time and effort depending on which route you take.

I thought the 96 Sierra was a Coily... might be wrong... but i cant see how a coil spring would move the diff back... only leaf srpings would possibly do that...
Hey holden26, is yor Sierra a Coily or a Leafy ?

Having trouble tracking down the shocks, what model commodore and Hiace are they from?? The part numbers are showing up as sanyong musso and non existant

Rear Commodore Wagon Shocks Gabriel 81340

Yep there the ones I have, the commodore shocks come up as sanyong musso and the Hiace shocks dont even have a listing
