Post subject:  Last piece of the puzzle. Distributor wires to Coil.

I'm have just about completed the 1.6 GTi convesion. Just have to connect the dizzy wires to the coil.

I have a yellow and a black wire coming from the "B" and "C" terminals of the ignitor module within the dizzy. Unfortunately I can't determine where they connect to on the coil. :oops:
I have numerous diagrams but none show in sufficient detail where they connect to other than the coil.

Are these wires polarity concsious or can they be connected willy nilly?

I've looked at my 1.3 but both wires appear to join to the -ve terminal only. :?

Not sure on the power side but if one is connected to the + ve of the coil it will have 12V.

1.6 GTi is a G16A block with a 1.3 GTi head. Its a MK1 ECU which only controlls the fuel supply. Ignition should be standard suzuki.

I'd be inclined to think yellow is supply & black trigger....

so black to - coil... i hope

it won't blow up if arse about, so just try one way...

Multi on AC ~20V range then try each of those wires in reference to ground. Crank the engine over. Which ever one shows fluctuating voltage is your cam/crank trigger and the other will be to the ignitor for the coil. Well thats what I think.

OK I'll connect one to +12V.
I'll go with the yellow first.
Check the out put of the other with reference to ground (black).

With the range on AC I would expect a steady voltage though.

Sometimes I wish I had an AVO for this stuff. Low frequency is better on DC using needle deflection as an indicator.

See how I go tomorrow.

Now im a tad confused :? . Is there only 2 wires out of the dizzy? Didn't think you have a cam/crank angle sensor or anything extra. So isnt the dizzy supplying the RPM trigger signals to the ECU as well as igniting the coil?

Yea DC will work fine.

Its a MK1 GTi ECU only runs fuel side of things. Ignition is all standard. Vac advance ect. ect.

ECU picks up -VE side of coil for engine speed reference. (Correct) :wink:

Correction! I see the reluctor pickup on the Dizzy as well, didnt see it connected. In that case multi will show nothing when cranking.

Stekky wouldn't the module go something like 12V-coil-yellow wire to module and the black wire to trigger?

Since it is a transistor you should be able to do a diode test between either wire and ground. Which ever one registers is the trigger wire.

Tis my thought's...... the other lil thing I was thinking was the igniteor...

Well wrong and right.
Black to +ve and yellow to -ve, and it didn't blow up arse about. Armsup I have spark.

Oil pressure OK. Reduction starters are 8) .

:( Fuel pump runs without even turing the key.

Try to fire it up. nothing. Check the fuel gauge nothing. :oops:

Hopefully this arvo she'll fire up. :twisted:
