Hey guys just had annother car droped into work that has been home wired and they droped it in to get it fixed. After starting again The efi is wired correctly but im concerened about the mazda cap fitted to the dizzy. What order should the leads go onto this cap. There is not enough clearance to remove the cap and have a look so thought id ask the question. Have seen a pic that looks a little like 4 top and in order to 1 at the bottom, is this correct? Thanks for your input. |

1342 is std for most 4 cylinder motors.. the tricky part will be rotation of rotor and where no.1 is set up, untill you know that you are guessing... id lift cap as far as possible on n0.1 firing position and see where rotor lines up, than with cap off hit starter and look at rotation direction... just a thought |

Yes worked it out, I knew the 1342 rule, just leads being on the side was not sure what was no 1, but if all else fails try and c what sort of backfire I had till it ran on 4, got all 4 cylds banging now, just got to get some bb jimny extractors modded for the GTI set up and away we go. Then tape the harness to something neat and hopefully the customer happy person. Still dont like the fact you can not get the cap off the dizzy without moving the engine forward. ( anyone who does this needs to think of the long term issues it may cause ) |

The order from the top is: 4 3 (coil) 1 2 Yep weird I know. it looks impossible to take the mazda cap off but you just have to undo the 2 bolts that hold the dizzy there and pull that off- only takes 5 mins.. |
