also thinking about towing a small trailer just for some added room.
Does anyone have tips or experience ?

Quick look on the web found this, pretty informative.

Lots of spare fuel.

Did it on a bike back in 07, fucking awesome it was, would be great in a sierra with the top off going through the telegraph track.

Highly recommend doing the Starke track on the east coast, you'd need a jerry to get through since its pretty remote.

Thanks for the link, I will be sure on convince some one else with a bigger car to join me, i think it will be quite challenging in a zook as you have limited space but i think it will be awesome. 2-3 weeks im hoping for.

Nah mate, we did it on bikes unsupported, i'd easily do it solo in a sierra.
1 20L jerry, water, camping gear, toolbox & spares, and your set.

We rode up from Cairns to the tip, came back via the starke track to cooktown, then rode all the way back to sydney.
