No, not the pussy type... I found this in the driveway the other day. At first I thought it was an insect nest or something. But the holes are way too square and it smells very much like exhaust 
Then, this morning I found this one right under the exhaust. I accidentally ran over it with the bike before I saw it. 
Is my cat slowly purging itself? Or is it possibly from the exhaust? I haven't noticed any extra, or change in exhaust noise, or change in performance. It's just a bit strange

If thats the cats internals, how on earth did it blow out the exhaust ? Pics make it look huge, far bigger than what could go thru a muffler and tail pipe. |

Pics make it look huge, far bigger than what could go thru a muffler and tail pipe. Cat gets hit/bashed. The ceramic honeycomb gets destroyed, exits through the 2 inch exhaust and straight thru/high flow muff. Piece in hand is descent sized but smaller than a 2" exhaust |

Nice, a self clearing cat... Not much point getting a new one if it's not blocked 
Yeah, I think the pics just make the chunk look big. It's about 30x20x10mm. |

Wish all of mine did the same instead of going sideways and blocking the whole thing!! Pretty sure a piece is caught in my muffler somewhere that I cant get out. Bloody buzzes and is freakin annoying!! |

I knocked the guts out of one once (purely to look at ) and I had to fair smash the crap out of it with a hammer and cold chisel

Talking about these things - does a SJ40 have to have a cat in the system? Were they standard when the vehicles were built? Tony |

Tony Nah mate 86 on for cats and unleaded in Australia Though technically, when doing an engine conversion you have to have all the pollution gear for the doner engine, so if your 1.3 was from a post 86 car it would need a cat and ULP filler Luckilly they cant tell so its from an 85

I think mine did this this-morning
At idle it started to rattle and buzz. At speed under load I could hear a loud hissing sound from the muffler, and there was a distinct lack of power. Then when going up a hill this afternoon, I gave the throttle a bit of a stab. There was a loud "woosh", the exhaust started growling like it should, the power increased and the car behind me slowed down (maybe they got peppered with bits of broken cat)

Thats sure is a sight. I have never in my life seen those honeycombs outside of a cat-con in anything but the form of dust. That stuff looks cool
