hey guys, i've noticed that some of my wires are deteriorating from rust and rubbing against other objects so i'm redoing them. i'm not looking for hp or anything like that. is there any other areas i can add ground wires to other then below? battery terminal to chassis battery terminal to starter motor (needed?) dizzy cap to chassis (OEM wire has split and i think it should be going back to the loom?) alternator to chassis/battery?? engine block to chassis |

factory they have thick from battery neg to block, via the starter mount, then they had block to firewall via dissy (taking care of body earths) and then one up the back from body to chassis (fuel gauge) I would run a fat cable from terminal to block, a bit thinner from firewall to battery and a chassis to body up the back that will cover it all pretty well really |

theres what appears to be a ground wire connected to the 'ass' end of the distributor and it looks like it goes into a wiring loom running along the firewall (under the wiper motor from memory). i cant be certain because that wire has deteriorated so much that it could join up to any of the wires close by. thanks for the tip btw

where abouts is this? when you say up the back, do you mean towards the rear of the engine bay or the rear of the car? |

Is that a fix for the very common 'my fuel gauge doesn't work' problem? Every zook I have had the fuel gauge hasn't worked! |

its a fix for the my fuel gauge and temp gauge read higher when the lights are on problem |

Seems the common problem for the fuel guage is in the sender itself. And then there are those that have problems with the dash..... |

does depend on the fault, the earthing problem generally doesnt get noticed with the fuel gauge cause nobody ever says gee the fuel gauge looks to be a bit higher than it should 
seems without that earth the more electrical load (especially earthing through the bodywork) the higher 'ground' is raised on the negative terminal of the voltage regulator in the dash so the higher the needles go for a given amount of resistence in the sender |

hmm i'll have to check that out, my temperature gauge likes to jump back and forth every now and again. may be due to bad earth connection. |
