Hi AusZookers,
Been doing alot of reading latelly in regards to tyre choice and rims but im abit confused so hoping you can help me out and give me your opinions

Currently i've got a couple of Sierra's which are stock and on the recent trip i rolled the AT tyre off a standard rim (after i inflated it from 6psi and drove 20min on 32psi it came off as i hit the main road...not sure how that happened but anyway)
I also had a sidwall punchure on the other tyre so i decided to treat the 92 tintop to some new rims and rubber.
I'll be getting a new suspension sorted soon also (another thing to think about and find out) but the plan is a 2" suspension lift and maybe 2" BL or extanded shackles...yet to decide and read abit more on what is required to fit the 30's but i don't want to spend more than $400 on suspension. If i get extanded shackles i won't be getting the BL as i read that most people don't like the BL as it makes the car too much top heavy. Any suggestions if i should run BL of ES to get the 30's to clear and not scrub?

The plan is also to get also get some 5.12 or 6.5 reduction gears with a Spartan rear locker down the track but won't be happening anytime soon hence why im only looking at 30" and nothing bigger...plus to avoid being cop bait.

I loved the look and review of Maxxis Bighorns and the BFG KM2's but after reading a few reviews and opinions im looking at getting the Kumho KL71's as they are ALOT cheaper and seem to be a decent well round tyre.

Im keen on getting 30"x9.5 but my question and dilhema is what type of rims should i be running and particualry what offset so the tyres don't rub?
I want the black steel rims and I've read through the build threads that alot of people use 15x7 or 15x8 rims but you have King, Speedy, ROH, CSA.....but which is better and what price should i be paying for them as some are $65 while others are $95?
I heard that some rims rust fairly quick on the outside "lip" (where the spokes contact the lip) as they are cheaper brands and aren't welded/sealed properly (not sure how true this is hence why i looking at the black rim also)

Some have a zero offset, some are -16 while others have a -22 to a -28 offset?!
I would like the rims to sit "fat" and just outside the guards to give the car abit more stability onroad and off so im assuming it'll need to have a -ve offset?!

Can you please give me your opinions on what offset i should be running for the 30x9.5 tyre so it doesn't rub and if i should get 15x7 or 15x8 (what brand?!) rims

Thanks in advance

For a 30" tyre give the King Wheels 15 x 7 -13 a try. Price will vary from about $70-$100 deped on where you go.

If you want them to sit out got -23 or -28.

Thanks guys

Im looking at getting the best package deal as i'll not only be getting the Sierra rims/tyres, i'll also be buying a new set for the old man's hilux so there will be 10 tyres in total. I heard that Bob Jane do a interest free so i'll give them a call and see if they can sort me out (i don't think Tyre Power do interest free?!)

Did abit more reading and apparently the 15x7 are a -13 offset while the 15x8 are a -23 offset?!

I know the hilux will require a 15x8 -23 for the 32" or 33"x10.5 but im still not sure what to do about the sierra?!

Mate 15x7 -13 is the tried and proven size, forget about 15x8 on a Sierra unless it is not going to be driven on the road.

This is what 15x7-13 with a 215/75 BFG mud terains, 2" suspension, no body lift and standard shackles looks like.

I am surprised that you have read that people prefer shackle lift to body lift. This is wrong, it is generally accepted that shackle lift is a BAD option, it adversly affects your vehicles stability and handling to such a degree that it is illegal.

2" body lift does affect centre of gravity to some degree but it is legal because it does not dangerously affect the vehicle to the extent that long extended shackles do.

Remember that doubling the length of your shackles will probably give you less than an inch extra body height at the wheel.

Thanks for the info 2stroker :-)

I think i'll be sticking to 15x7 -13 with the Black King Wheels and the Kumho KL71s in a 30x9.5

ZUKOFHZRD
What is the best price you can get me for the above combination (you can PM me or i can give you a call at work tomorrow...just need to tell me your name so i know who to contact....as im not going to ring the shop and ask for ZUKOFHZRD :P lol)
Also i read your other posts that you're looking at Bighorns or KM2s...any particular reason you don't want KL71s?

MAXIMUM recommended tyre pressure for a Sierra(swb) is 20psi.
